Year 2020
I welcomed you by a charming smile
With all glam and shine around
Suddenly glamour was replaced by mask
And the world was put to halt
You made us realize how fake is the show off around
I welcomed you with open arms
Many aspirations, desires and wants
You changed the rules
And there was chaos everywhere around
You made us realize how unrealistic we have been many times
I welcomed you with many plans
Power, money, vacations & laurels I talked about
You isolated us all —
Everyone got uncomfortable & anxious
You made us realize how temporary bubbles they really are
Very soon all this will be a memory
And I hope that the lessons stay with us long
A year so painful, so scary and raw —
But it forced us to grow
As love, peace and compassion filled our heart
We promise to make this world a better place
And give deeper meaning to our lives
